Q. What is hairweaving?
Hairweaving is the attaching of new hair to one's own hair that is braided (cornrowed) down onto the scalp.

Q. How is hairweaving done?
Once the client's hair is cornrowed, new hair is sewn onto the cornrow pattern with thread. This is an intricate process that usually takes 3-4 hours for a full weave. Once the hairweave is completed, it will last up to four months before the weave needs to be reapplied.

Q. What type of hair is used?
Only human hair is used for hairweaving. Synthetic substitutes have mainly been discontinued in recent years. Only human hair provides the manageability needed for everyday styling needs, such as curling irons, hair coloring, and flat ironing.

First Impression Hair Designs acquires only the highest quality human hair from its suppliers. This makes it possible for clients to re-use the hair when the time comes for the hairweave to be reapplied, instead of having to buy more hair. First Impression's hairweave clients usually are able to re-use hair for an entire year, lasting through three applications.

Q. How do I care for my hairweave?
Mild shampoo is recommemded. Conditioning can also be used.

Q. What are hair extensions?
Hair extensions are strands of new hair bonded to a client's existing hair without braiding. Only human hair is used.

Q. How are hair extensions done?
Individual extensions are placed in precise locations and with client-specified thicknesses to produce a variety of effects. Instead of hair coloring, many clients use extensions for highlighting their hair. Extensions are also often used to add fullness to thinning hair.

Q. Can anyone get hair extensions?
No. Unlike hairweaving, hair extensions are not recommended if your hair is not chemically or naturally straight. Since hair extensions are made in straight textures, it is necessary to match that texture with the client's hair to enable problem-free styling.

Q. How do I care for my hair extensions?
Mild shampoo is recommemded. Conditioning can also be used.

Q. What are Clip-in extensions?
Clip-in extensions are segments of human hair that are attached with a series of clips. They vary in length and are ideal for short-term styling, such as for a day or a weekend. Since the weight of the extensions and clips tend to strain the scalp, we at First Impression Hair Designs recommend against using Clip-in Extensions for more than two weeks at a time.
